Herman Manyora Now Claims Who Uhuru Might Endorse After Dumping Matiangi As New Details Emerge

Tension has started building in Kenya’s political streets after analyst Herman Manyora suggested that former president Uhuru Kenyatta might be quietly shifting his 2027 plans away from former interior CS Fred Matiangi.

The twist has sparked fresh speculation on who the former head of state is truly aligning with as the battle to replace President William Ruto gains pace.

In reports highlighted by Thursday’s People Daily publication, accessible through the link shared in their digital edition, Manyora pointed to a silent but strategic regrouping around former vice-president Kalonzo Musyoka.

The move places Uhuru in the same corner as former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Matiangi, creating an unlikely formation behind Kalonzo at a time when political temperatures continue rising across the country.

The suggestion that Uhuru could be abandoning Matiangi for Kalonzo has already triggered intense debate. For months, the former president was believed to be grooming Matiangi through Jubilee structures.

Now, insiders claim the equation has changed as Uhuru looks for a candidate with national acceptability who can directly confront the commander in chief.

Kalonzo has recently emerged as a preferred candidate across different power circles, with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua publicly describing him as the most suitable figure to take on President William Ruto.

Analysts believe this new alignment signals a deeper political calculation as disgruntled blocs from Mt Kenya, Eastern, Western and the Coast search for a unifying figure after the death of former ODM boss Raila Odinga, who had dominated opposition politics for decades.

Manyora’s claims also expose the growing pressure within the opposition space, where leaders are rushing to declare their positions before the 2027 showdown fully takes shape.

The possibility of Uhuru moving his support to Kalonzo could change the national narrative, especially if discontented groups rally around a single candidate.

For now, all eyes remain on how Jubilee, ODM remnants, and leaders previously close to Raila reorganize themselves. The shifting alliances suggest that the country might be heading into one of the most unpredictable transitions in recent years.
