DJ Warras Shot Dead in Johannesburg, Fans and Celebrities Pay Emotional Tributes

The entertainment world has been thrown into deep shock following the sudden death of popular South African media personality and entertainer DJ Warras, who was shot dead in Johannesburg on Tuesday afternoon.

DJ Warras, whose real name was Warrick Stock, was widely known for his lively personality, passion for community issues, and his role as a television host on the popular reality show Ngicel’ iVisa, which aired on Mzansi Magic.

According to police reports, the incident occurred shortly after midday in Johannesburg’s Central Business District (CBD). DJ Warras had reportedly gone to inspect a building in the area when he was approached by unknown individuals.

Moments later, gunshots were heard, and the entertainer was fatally wounded. The attackers are said to have fled the scene immediately on foot. Emergency services responded quickly, but DJ Warras was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities later confirmed that the shooting took place near the busy intersection of Commissioner Street and Von Wielligh Street, opposite the well-known Carlton Centre.
Possible motive under investigation

Early information from investigators suggests that the killing may have been targeted rather than random. DJ Warras had been actively involved in efforts to reclaim illegally occupied buildings, commonly known as hijacked properties, in Johannesburg.

Police believe the attack could be linked to disputes surrounding one such property he was inspecting at the time. However, they have stressed that investigations are still ongoing and no arrests have been made so far.

Spent cartridges were recovered at the scene, and detectives are reviewing CCTV footage from nearby buildings to help identify the suspects.
