Seth Panyako Reveals the Position the Gov't Allegedly Offered Him After Malava By-election Loss.

Seth Panyako has stirred fresh political debate after claiming that the government approached him with an offer to serve as a Cabinet Secretary shortly after he lost the Malava by-election, a move he says he rejected due to the violence and intimidation he allegedly faced during the campaign period.

Speaking during a Radio Maisha interview on December 3, 2025, Panyako described the alleged offer as insincere and accused government officials of attempting to entice him with a position he never sought, insisting that his intention was to serve the people of Malava and not secure a ministerial appointment.

Panyako further revealed that this was not the first time he had been approached, claiming he had also been offered a Principal Secretary post in 2022 but declined, stating that he already had another job and would not be swayed by political bargaining.

The DAP-K candidate added that residents of Malava overwhelmingly supported his decision to reject the appointment, saying many of them urged him not to join what they described as a “bloody government,” reinforcing his belief that the alleged offer was politically motivated rather than based on merit.

During the interview, Panyako alleged widespread electoral malpractice, including claims that some of his agents were bribed with Ksh15,000 by opponents, undermining the credibility of the by-election and raising questions about the integrity of the electoral process.

He also accused the police of being complicit in acts of violence during the campaigns, recounting an instance where an officer allegedly warned him of an imminent attack, forcing him to go into hiding days before the polls.

Despite his allegations, Panyako conceded defeat to UDA candidate David Ndakwa, while vowing to continue advocating for democratic fairness and accountability in future elections.
