Family of Late Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua Petitions Ruto Over Alleged Forged Will and Estate Dispute

The family of the late former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua has petitioned President William Ruto, seeking government intervention in an ongoing dispute over the management of his estate.

In a letter dated March 23, the family is asking for investigations into allegations of fraud, forgery, and unlawful interference involving a contested will they claim has been used to control and distribute the deceased’s assets.

The petition was submitted through the Office of the Attorney General.

According to the family, a close relative has allegedly been manipulating estate processes over time, including transferring assets irregularly, using proxies to divert property, and denying rightful beneficiaries access to key holdings.

They argue that these actions have resulted in the loss of properties that should belong to the immediate family.

At the center of the dispute is a will the family describes as suspicious and potentially forged. They claim the document bears markings suggesting it may have been a draft rather than a finalized legal instrument.

The family further alleges that the will was prepared while the late governor was critically ill and unable to fully comprehend or participate in legal proceedings.

One of the daughters, Suzan Kirigo Nderitu, stated that during the governor’s final days at a hospital in London, he was too weak to see, write, or understand complex documents, raising further doubts about the validity of the will.

The petition also accuses the unnamed relative of using political influence to misappropriate funds intended for the family’s welfare while restricting access to properties linked to the estate.

Among the assets mentioned in the dispute are a garden resort and a beach resort, which the family wants returned to the estate.

In their appeal, the family is urging the President to help ensure justice, accountability, and proper administration of the estate.

They maintain that the situation has caused prolonged hardship and internal conflict, and they are seeking a fair resolution through official investigation and legal review.
