Controversial Kileleshwa MCA Robert Alai has weighed in on the ongoing leadership wrangles within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), dismissing claims that Narok Senator Ledama Olekina could become the party’s next Secretary General.
In a recent social media post, Alai stated that despite speculation linking Olekina to the influential position, the senator is neither willing nor interested in taking up the role.

According to Alai, if Olekina had any intentions of becoming ODM Secretary General, he would have already made a move long ago.
“Ledama is my friend. He fears that role. If he wanted it, he would have taken it a long time ago,” Alai claimed, appearing to shut down growing rumours about the senator’s possible elevation within the party.
The remarks come at a time when ODM is grappling with internal divisions, particularly surrounding the position currently held by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.

The remarks come at a time when ODM is grappling with internal divisions, particularly surrounding the position currently held by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
Sifuna has been at the center of a leadership storm after the party’s National Executive Committee moved to remove him from the Secretary General post earlier this year.
Although Edwin Sifuna secured temporary relief from the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal, which directed that the matter be handled internally, pressure has continued to mount from sections of the party pushing for new leadership.
Speculation over potential replacements has since intensified, with several names being floated across political circles.

However, Alai’s latest comments suggest that Ledama Olekina may not be a serious contender, at least from the perspective of some influential voices within ODM.

As such, any changes in that office are likely to have far-reaching implications for ODM’s future.
Alai’s intervention has added fuel to an already heated debate, with supporters and critics offering mixed reactions online.

While some agree with his assessment, others argue that dismissing Olekina undermines his political experience and influence.
