Despite being a member of one of Kenya’s most famous political families, Jomo has built a reputation for keeping his personal life away from public attention.
He was born on April 8, 1989 — a date he shares with his mother. Jomo has two younger siblings: his brother, Jaba Kenyatta, and his sister, Ngina Kenyatta. Like him, both prefer to live quietly, rarely making public appearances unless attending family or official events.
Jomo attended Hilton College in South Africa before joining Michaelhouse in KwaZulu Natal Midlands. His education exposed him to diverse cultures and gave him a global perspective from a young age.
In 2011, he had a brief career experience at Johari Cleff Studios, owned by the late Bruce Odhiambo, a close friend of his father. This internship allowed him to explore creative industries while building personal skills.
Away from public life, Jomo is also a family man. He married his longtime partner, Fiona Achola, in a traditional Kikuyu wedding ceremony on October 22 at Fiona’s family home in Karen, Nairobi.
The event was attended by close family and friends. The couple has two children — a daughter born in November 2017 at Aga Khan Hospital and a son, Baby Uhuru, born on May 27, 2020, at Nairobi Hospital.
In July 2023, Jomo’s name made headlines when unknown individuals tried to access his Karen home, claiming to be police officers.
His father, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, rushed to the scene to protect his family and later addressed the media, condemning what he described as political intimidation.
Uhuru stated that his children and mother should not be dragged into political disputes, saying he was ready to face any accusations directly.
Even with occasional media attention, Jomo Kenyatta Jr has stayed consistent in his preference for privacy. His life, though connected to Kenya’s highest political circles, is focused on his family and personal interests rather than public office or politics.
