First Daughter Charlene Ruto recently visited the Odinga family home in Bondo, attracting huge attention from Kenyans after videos of her convoy went viral.
The visit, which took place at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, came as the family continued to mourn the passing of a loved one.
According to footage seen by our team, Charlene arrived in a well-organized motorcade that featured high-end vehicles valued at more than KSh 50 million.
Among the cars spotted were a Lexus LX 570, an Isuzu MU-X believed to be her personal ride, two Toyota Prados, a Ford Ranger pickup, and a Subaru escort vehicle.
Charlene was warmly received by Mama Ida Odinga, who took her around the compound together with Raila Junior.
The First Daughter was seen laying wreaths at the graves of Raila Odinga and his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, before visiting the family museum, where Junior is digitizing the Odinga family’s history and legacy.
In her message shared later, Charlene thanked the Odinga family for their hospitality and expressed her prayers for them during the difficult time.
She wrote that Raila Junior had shown her around the museum and praised his efforts to preserve Kenya’s history.
The convoy, however, divided Kenyans online. Some praised Charlene for being hardworking and confident, saying she deserves success because of her ventures in agriculture and youth empowerment.
Others accused her of showing off wealth at a time when her father has been urging citizens to live modestly.
One user commented, “You expected her to walk from Kisumu Airport?” while another wrote, “She farms wheat, sunflowers, and bees—let her enjoy the fruits of her labour.”
Interestingly, Charlene’s younger brother George Ruto also paid tribute to Raila in a unique way.
He unveiled a matatu named Money Fest, featuring a bright orange and black portrait of Raila on the driver’s side.
