Muriithi Ndagita, the Ward Representative from UDA, has spoken openly about the tension between Rigathi Gachagua and President William Ruto.
According to Ndagita, the issues are not Rigathi’s fault but stem from how the President handled their working relationship.
Ndagita explained that Rigathi has always been a strong and independent leader.
He does not like being pushed or controlled, which sometimes clashes with others who expect him to follow orders without question.
This independence, Ndagita says, is one reason why President Ruto struggles to work closely with him.
“Rigathi is not someone you can pressure into agreement,” Ndagita said. “He prefers to make decisions on his own and lead without interference.”
The Ward Representative further claimed that some of the challenges between the two leaders come from misuse of authority rather than any personal failure by Rigathi.
He noted that when leaders are not used properly, even capable individuals can appear difficult or uncooperative. “It was not Rigathi’s mistake. It was a result of how he was handled,” Ndagita added.
Ndagita also highlighted Rigathi’s commitment to independence and transparency in his work.
He is known for making decisions carefully and not letting anyone rush him into actions that may not align with his principles.
This approach, while effective for some, can create tension in high-pressure political environments where quick alignment is often expected.
Despite the disagreements, Ndagita emphasized that Rigathi remains loyal to his vision and continues to work diligently for his constituents.
He encourages both leaders to understand each other better to strengthen collaboration in the future.
