"I'll Not Vote If MP Babu Owino Will Not Be On The Ballot" Section Of ODM Members Declares

A section of ODM party supporters from Bunge la Mwananchi has today declared that Nairobi youths will not participate in the upcoming gubernatorial election if Embakasi East Member of Parliament Hon. Babu Owino does not contest for the governor’s seat.

Speaking during a public gathering at Jeevanjee Gardens in Nairobi, one of the youth leaders said they are tired of being led by leaders who have been in power for many years without delivering meaningful development to the city.

He said Babu Owino represents the new generation of leaders who understand the challenges facing young people and can bring the change Nairobi needs.

“As Nairobi youths, we have made it clear that we will not vote for anyone else except Babu Owino. We are tired of recycled leaders who keep promising but do nothing.

Babu has shown capacity, intelligence, and energy to transform this city,” said one of the members.

The youths praised the Embakasi East MP for his continued support for education and empowerment programs, saying his leadership style resonates with the aspirations of the youth.

They also urged ODM to give Babu Owino a direct ticket, arguing that he commands massive support across Nairobi’s informal settlements and middle-class areas.

They criticized past and current county administrations for failing to address basic issues such as unemployment, waste management, and poor infrastructure, which continue to affect city residents.

“Babu is one of us. He knows the struggles of a young Nairobian.

If ODM wants to win in Nairobi, they must allow him to run for governor,” another member added.

The declaration by the Bunge la Mwananchi youth group adds a new dimension to Nairobi’s 2027 political landscape, with growing calls for generational change in leadership.
