Former Powerful ODM Governor Makes Rare Public Appearance As He Joins Race For Senator

Former Busia County Governor Sospeter Ojaamong on Saturday made a rare public appearance when he attended the funeral of his one-time political advisor, Innocent Aluku.

Aluku was Ojaamong's long time political advisor, the role he played during his entire reign as Governor.

Besides that, Aluku once served as the ODM party Secretary General in Busia County.

The veteran politician who died aged 67 years was described as a unifying leader who tirelessly worked for the interests of his community.

It was a rare public appearance for Ojaamong who left Governor office in 2022 after serving for two terms.

In 2022, he ran for the Teso South MP seat but lost to UDA's Mary Emase who was making a comeback after spending five years in the cold.

As the clock now ticks towards the 2027 general election, Ojaamong is eyeing the Busia County senator position which is currently held by Okiya Omtatah, who has joined State House race.
