A dramatic political storm is brewing in the country as ODM MP Hon. Caleb Amisi has accused President William Ruto of plotting to dismantle the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), including firing its Cabinet Secretaries in broad-based government..
Taking to social media on Friday, Amisi claimed Ruto is using the ODM-UDA broad-based government to revive UDA, predicting the ruling party will dominate Nyanza’s parliamentary seats in the 2027 elections, leaving ODM powerless.
Amisi alleges Ruto’s strategy mirrors past tactics, like leveraging Moi’s KANU and Uhuru’s TNA to penetrate opposition strongholds, now targeting ODM’s heartland.
He warns that ODM ministers, appointed as part of Raila Odinga’s coalition deal, will either join UDA or face the sack.
The MP suggests Ruto aims for a one-party monopoly, avoiding coalitions that demand a deputy president slot, and will choose his running mate at will.
The accusation comes amid growing ODM unrest, with Amisi hinting at an exit from the alliance by March 2026, citing disrespect to Raila’s legacy post his AU chairmanship bid.
While top ODM and UDA leaderships have not responded, Kenya watches to see if Ruto’s administration will respond to these bold claims.
