"Uhuru Wacha Uongo," Wahome Thuku Dismisses Uhuru's Jirongo Presidential Capacity Comments

High Court advocate Wahome Thuku has criticized former President Uhuru Kenyatta for claiming that ex-Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo possessed the qualities to be Kenya's President.

Thuku contended that the former President's remarks were untruthful.

Thuku commented following Uhuru's speech at Jirongo's funeral, where he mentioned that Jirongo was courageous enough to engage with the late President Mwai Daniel Moi during his twenties.

Uhuru also noted that Jirongo was a businessman who had introduced him to KANU.

Jirongo was buried on December 30, 2025, at his residence in Kakamega. Politicians from the Western region have urged President William Ruto's government to conduct a thorough investigation.

Jirongo lost his life on December 13, 2025, on the Nairobi-Nakuru road at Karai in Naivasha when his vehicle collided with a bus, resulting in his immediate death.

Former Vihiga senator George Khaniri has also requested an investigation, mentioning that Jirongo had not indicated any intention of leaving Nairobi since he was expected at a meeting the following day.

Khaniri stated that he spoke with Jirongo at around 11 p.m., during which Jirongo confirmed his attendance at the meeting.

He also urged authorities to disclose the identities of two individuals seen on CCTV sitting in the front of Jirongo's car before the accident.
