Political Fault Lines Emerge As Nabii Nabwera Speaks After Uhuru Stole Spotlight At Jirongo Burial

Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera stirred debate after a Facebook post made on December 30 2025 during the burial of Cyrus Jirongo in Lumakanda Kakamega County.

He attacked what he called easy opposition politics that reject everything while avoiding responsibility. Nabwera argued that real power comes from strategic choices and patience.

He praised the Kikuyu community for protecting shared interests even when individuals lose.

In his message Nabwera also criticised the Luo political style which he said focuses on drama and loud resistance.

He questioned why leaders enjoy government benefits while claiming to suffer in opposition.

He asked the community to reflect on missed chances and future goals.

His comments came as former President Uhuru Kenyatta received a heroic welcome.

Jirongo a former Lugari MP and businessman died on December 13 2025 after a road accident. Doctors said he suffered severe chest and abdominal injuries.

Despite the report some leaders demanded a fresh probe into his death. They claimed political tension and past rivalries could not be ignored.

The burial at Lumakanda Primary School attracted thousands of mourners from across the country.

Politics quickly took over the solemn event. When Uhuru arrived dressed in black the crowd erupted in cheers.

Songs chants and ululations stopped the programme for several minutes.

In his speech Uhuru defended multiparty democracy and warned against intimidation. He called for unity tolerance and issue based politics.

He also took aim at leaders he accused of weakening opposition voices. His words were met with loud approval from the mourners.

Tension rose when Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi stood to read President William Ruto message. Ruto did not attend and was represented by Mudavadi and Speaker Moses Wetangula.

Sections of the crowd walked out while others booed. The protest showed growing anger toward the current administration in the region.

Political observers described the funeral as a signal of shifting power in Western Kenya. They said the ruling party influence appears to be shrinking.

Talks about Luhya unity culture and succession filled the air. The event reflected a nation deeply divided along political lines.

Jirongo was remembered as a fearless defender of plural politics and community enterprise.

Yet the day exposed hard questions about loyalty development and leadership.

Nabwera message echoed through the crowd as cheers faded. Many left weighing emotion against strategy ahead of the 2027 vote within a restless national political climate.
