Speaking to the media, Mary’s brother Daniel Odongo dismissed reports that his 23-year-old sister had passed away.
He stated that she is alive and receiving care at Kenyatta National Hospital after being attacked with acid.
He claimed that an officer named Opiyo is responsible for circulating the false reports online.
The family revealed that Opiyo serves as an officer in the National Intelligence Service.
They said the untrue claims have caused distress while Mary continues her recovery.
Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko also refuted the death rumours and pledged to support the family in seeking justice.
He assured Mary that she would receive protection and legal assistance.
Sonko additionally helped the family secure a lawyer, Elizabeth Ochieng, to manage the case.
Mary was attacked with acid by a fellow gospel group member identified as Elvis Opiyo.
She sustained severe injuries and remains under close medical observation.
Her brother said her health is improving, although doctors are still concerned about her eye and mouth, which were affected by the attack.
Sonko emphasised that he will continue supporting the family until justice is achieved and cautioned those spreading false information to stop immediately.
