"Ukijiamini Kuja Tena" Ruto CSs, MPs Claps Mocks Gachagua Ahead Of Another By election In Mt Kenya

Taifa Leo has established that two Cabinet secretaries and several Members of Parliament, who are close allies of President William Ruto from Meru County have said they will ensure that the opposition is defeated once again in the upcoming ward by-elections in Mbeere North Constituency.

Led by Cabinet Secretaries Geoffrey Ruku (Public Service) and Eric Muga (Water), together with MPs Paul Mwirigi (Igembe South), Dan Kiili (Igembe Central), and Mpuru Aburi (Tigania East), accused former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua of sowing seeds of division in the Mt Kenya region.

They said they want the DCP party to field candidates in the Evovure and Muminji wards so that they can face them at the ballot.

Speaking in Igembe South Constituency on Sunday, the leaders accused Mr Gachagua and Mr Linturi of running a campaign to smear the national government after failing in the duties they were assigned by President William Ruto.

The opposition has said that the DP and DCP parties will field candidates in the Muminji and Evuvore wards.

Mr Ruku dismissed claims that DCP is popular in the Mt Kenya region, saying the Mbeere North by-election held last November showed how the party is fading.

“We have given notice to the opposition in Mt Kenya, and since we have two by-elections, I challenge them to field their candidates if they believe their party is strong. We will defeat them by a wide margin,” said Mr Ruku.

He said President Ruto enjoys strong support in the area because the opposition lacks a development agenda for the country.

The leaders defended President Ruto’s administration against claims that it discriminates against the Mt Kenya region, saying that many Cabinet secretaries come from the area.
