Nairobi Braces As Gen Z Announce Major CBD March Toward William Ruto Offices Amid Rising Buzz

A section of young Kenyans has announced plans to hold a march from Nairobi’s Central Business District to the offices of President William Ruto at Harambee House.

The organizers, who identify themselves as part of the Gen Z movement, shared the details on Wednesday and encouraged fellow youth to turn up in large numbers for the event scheduled on Thursday.

According to the organizers, the march will pass through key streets in the city centre before ending at Harambee House.

They describe the gathering not as a protest in the traditional sense, but as a show of support and recognition of what they see as progress made by the current administration over the past three years.

One of the coordinators, Vincent Kabisai, said the aim is to highlight government efforts to steady the economy and push forward development projects despite global financial challenges.

He noted that many young people feel there has been a shift worth acknowledging, and they want their voices to be part of the national conversation.

The planned march is also tied to growing youth driven civic engagement campaigns. Among them is the “Niko Kadi” initiative, which encourages young Kenyans to register as voters.

The campaign has gained attention in Nairobi and is gradually expanding to other parts of the country, with organizers framing voter registration as a key step toward shaping future leadership and holding leaders accountable.

What began as a small effort led by a few activists has developed into a broader movement attracting interest from different regions.

The organizers say the march is both a moment of visibility and a call to action, urging young people to participate actively in the democratic process as the country looks ahead to the next election cycle.
