Willis Otieno has spoken in a very strong way after comments were made about Kisumu and the political group known as Team Linda Mwananchi.
He said some people are talking about Kisumu like it is just a gym where they go to play around, talk loudly, and behave without thinking.
He said this kind of talk is careless, disrespectful, and shows lack of understanding of the people and the place. He said Kisumu is not a joke place. It is a real city with real citizens, real problems, and real political feelings.
He warned that leaders and political supporters should stop treating Kisumu like a place for jokes or insults.
He said every part of Kenya deserves respect no matter the political side or tribe of the people living there.
He was reacting to Atandi, who had told Team Linda Mwananchi to be careful about going to Kisumu.
Atandi had warned that the political mood in Kisumu should not be ignored and that the group should think well before going there.
But Willis Otieno disagreed strongly with that statement. He said it is wrong to make Kisumu look like a dangerous or closed place where people cannot go freely.
He said Kenya is one country and all leaders and citizens have the right to move anywhere without fear or intimidation.
He added that such warnings only increase division and make people feel like some areas belong to certain groups only. He said that is not the spirit of unity that Kenya needs.
He also criticized the way some leaders are using insults in their political talks. He said calling people stupid or insulting places only makes politics worse.
He said leaders should speak in a calm way even when they disagree strongly. According to him, respect is very important in politics because words can easily create anger among supporters on the ground.
He finished by saying that Kenya needs peace and understanding, not insults and division. He encouraged leaders to focus on development, jobs, and helping citizens instead of fighting with words.
