Political analyst Suba Churchill has stirred fresh debate over President William Ruto’s 2027 game plan, suggesting that the Head of State could be eyeing a surprise alliance with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV’s Day Break, Churchill hinted that Ruto’s recent remarks about ODM being part of the government could be a calculated move to reshape the political landscape ahead of the next general election.
According to Churchill, Ruto’s sudden soft tone towards ODM and its leadership is not accidental. He argued that the President could be testing the waters for a possible coalition deal, one that might even see him defend his seat through an ODM-affiliated alliance.
“When Ruto says ODM will be part of government, it’s not just a casual statement, it could be a strategic signal for 2027,” Churchill observed.
He further noted that Ruto’s aggressive charm offensive in the Ukambani region points to growing anxiety within the Kenya Kwanza camp. Churchill believes that the President’s strong presence there is a sign that he sees Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka as a serious opponent in the next election.
“The way Ruto is moving in Ukambani shows that Kalonzo has become a real political threat,” he stated, adding that the 2027 race could shape up into a fierce battle between the two leaders.
Churchill’s remarks have triggered widespread discussion among political watchers, with many interpreting them as a reflection of the fluid and unpredictable nature of Kenyan politics.
As alliances continue to shift and political friendships blur, the road to 2027 already appears to be one filled with intrigue, strategy, and high-stakes maneuvering.
