Kenyans have continued to send messages of comfort to the family of the late Mayienga FM head of radio, Festus Amimo, after his widow, Rozy Amimo, delivered an emotional tribute describing the man she loved and the life they built together.
Festus died suddenly after collapsing in a hotel within Nairobi’s Central Business District. His unexpected passing shocked friends, colleagues, and listeners, especially because he had left home that morning in good health.
His body was first moved to City Funeral Home before being transferred to Montezuma Funeral Home.
On December 11, politicians from his home region visited the widow to condole with her, prompting Rozy to reflect on her husband’s character, his ambitions, and the dreams they shared. She described Festus as a hardworking man who loved good things and pursued every goal with determination.
“Whenever he put his mind to getting something, he would struggle until he got it,” she said, noting that their impressive village home was a blessing they never imagined they would own.
“We used to thank God because it was never in our dreams to have such a house.”
Rozy also spoke humorously about his work habits, recalling how Festus was always on his phone coordinating tasks.
“Sometimes we used to argue because he was always on the phone,” she said. “He would tell me, ‘This is my office; you don’t know what I’m coordinating.’”
Reflecting on the sudden loss, she shared the biggest lesson his death taught her: to live one day at a time.
“He had plans for December and even 2026, but God had His own plans. I have learnt that we should take one day at a time.”
Kenyans online reacted with sympathy, praising Rozy for her strength while urging her to remain steadfast.
Many described her as the true definition of a supportive wife and prayed for comfort for the grieving family.
