Kakamega County has once again been plunged into mourning following the death of former Shinyalu MP Daniel Khamasi.
The news of Khamasi's death has been confirmed by the current Shinyalu MP Fredrick Ikana.
Khamasi served as Shinyalu MP for two terms from 1997 to 2007. He was first elected on a Ford Kenya party ticket before winning reelection on a NARC ticket in 2002.
In 2007, he was defeated by Charles Lugano of ODM. And from there, he never made a political comeback and opted to retire from the murky world of politics.
Khamasi has been considered as an elder in Kakamega County politics with current politicians often visiting him for advice.
The former MP recently met with Kakamega County Governor FCPA Fernandes Barasa and senator Dr Boni Khalwale.
The death of Khamasi comes just weeks since the deaths of former Lugari MPs Cyrus Jirongo and Dr Enoch Kibunguchy.
Jirongo will be laid to rest to rest today at his Lumakanda home in Lugari constituency.
