Tiriki elders say Jirongo’s final farewell will exclude women and children if a torch must be used

The late Cyrus Jirongo who was the former MP of Lugari, will be buried today, December 30th, at his residence in Lugari.

A requiem service is scheduled at Lumakanda Primary School located in Lugari, Kakamega County.

The family and the Tiriki elders have not reached to a conclusion about whether the famous politician and business person will be laid to rest with a lit torch in his grave.

This is a ritual performed when someone from their society passes away under suspicious conditions. Jirongo passed away in a horrific car crash on the Nairobi-Nakuru highway at around 3 a.m.

Mystery still lingers around his death as some of his associates allege that Jirongo was killed, and the incident was meant to deceive the family and the public.

Reports from private detectives indicate that, based on the CCTV footage, he was not in the vehicle alone just a few minutes before the incident happened.

His confidant and ex-MP George Khaniri states that investigators have revealed two individuals were seated in the front of the car, while Deputy Inspector General Gilbert Masengeli has guaranteed the public that a forensic inquiry is currently in progress.

An elder has revealed what will happen with the torch and the medicines that will be if cultural rites are conducted to avenge his death; he also mentioned that women and children must be absent before, during and after performing the rituals.

Jirongo has left four widows from different Kenyan communities; Joan Chemutai Kimeto, Christine Nyokabi Kimani, Anne Kanini and Anne Lanoi Pertet & 20 children.
