A recent land-mark ruling by the High Court of Kenya has seen the Judiciary nullify President William Ruto’s move to appoint a team of experts to oversee compensation for victims of the past anti-government protests, that saw the death of hundreds of Kenyans.
The decision by the High Court has come as a major blow to President William Ruto who saw the move as one that will ensure the Government compensates victims of Police brutality.
The Chair of the Compensation Committee, Professor Makua Mutua has been one of those that has reacted to the decision by the High Court.
Speaking through his official X page, the President's advisor on Constitutional matters has argued that the decision by the High Court is clear evidence that even in Law there is politics.
''All law, every iota of it, is politics. No one should lie to you, or tell you otherwise.'' Stated Professor Makau Mutua in his reaction to the High Court ruling.
According to Professor Makau Mutua, Law has now become political, and the only difference that exits is that there is good and bad Law, just the way there is good politics and bad politics.
''If they do, tell them you heard it from the Professor himself. The only difference is that there’s bad law and there’s good law, or bad politics and good politics.'' Stated the President's Advisor in his reaction.
