A tense road rage incident on the Nairobi–Mombasa Highway has gone viral after a video recorded by passengers showed a dramatic confrontation between a bus driver and a motorist.
The video, which surfaced shortly after a similar incident you previously highlighted, has prompted fresh discussions about road safety and reckless driving on Kenyan highways.
According to the clip, a white private car suddenly speeds past a passenger bus, forcing the driver to react quickly.
Passengers inside the bus can be heard questioning the motorist’s behaviour as the situation begins to escalate.
The bus driver, appearing frustrated, accelerates to catch up with the car, hoping to understand what had triggered the reckless move.
The motorist then slows down, and in the most alarming moment of the video, pulls out a gun and fires a shot into the air.
The loud sound immediately sends passengers into panic, with some shouting while others duck in fear. Despite the shock, the bus driver stays focused and keeps urging the motorist to pull over instead of endangering everyone on the road.
In another part of the footage, the motorist swerves dangerously from side to side, appearing to taunt the bus driver. At one point, he hangs his hands out of the window as if daring the bus to come closer.
A crew member can be seen leaning out of the bus door, signalling desperately for the motorist to stop driving recklessly. The tension inside the bus continues to build, with one passenger openly expressing frustration and calling for action.
After several minutes of chaos, the motorist speeds away, leaving behind a shaken bus driver and terrified passengers.
The clip quickly spread across social media, where Kenyans debated not only the actions of the armed motorist but also the bus driver’s decision to continue following him.
Many viewers argued that the bus driver should have slowed down to protect passengers, while others praised him for maintaining composure in a frightening situation.
Several commenters also raised concerns about civilians misusing firearms on public roads and called for the authorities to take action before such incidents turn fatal.
The video has since reignited conversations about defensive driving, emotional control on the road, and the need for stronger enforcement to curb rising cases of aggressive driving along major Kenyan highways.
