"It Will End In Premium Tears" Kuria Delivers Bad News to Matiang'i, Kalonzo Over Gachagua’s Remarks

Former Trade CS and Chama Cha Kazi leader Moses Kuria dropped a bombshell late-night post on X on January 12, 2026, directly addressing opposition heavyweights Kalonzo Musyoka, Eugene Wamalwa, and Fred Matiang'i.

The message, laced with sarcasm and warning, could ripple through preparations for the 2027 presidential race.Quoting Kuria's exact words: "Dear Kalonzo, Wamalwa and Matiangi.

Leader of opposition has said you can't leave your houses when he is not around. On Saturday in Kangundo he said Kalonzo will have to bring 4 Million votes otherwise no shares. Caveat Emptor ! This will end up in premium tears." The "Leader of opposition" referenced is widely understood to be former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who has positioned himself as the de facto head of an emerging anti-Ruto coalition.

Kuria's jab highlights Gachagua's recent remarks in Kangundo, Machakos County, where he reportedly demanded that Kalonzo deliver at least four million votes from his Ukambani base to earn a meaningful stake in any future power-sharing deal.

The Latin phrase "Caveat Emptor" buyer beware and the warning of "premium tears" suggest Kuria views any alliance with Gachagua as a risky, potentially disastrous bargain for the trio.Kuria's intervention underscores longstanding tensions.

As a vocal critic of Gachagua whom he has alternately praised as Mount Kenya's influential figure and accused of tribal politics and unrealistic ambitions Kuria appears to be sowing doubt about Gachagua's coalition-building strategy.

By framing Gachagua's demands as domineering and conditional, Kuria implies that Kalonzo, Wamalwa, and Matiang'i risk subordination or betrayal in a setup where Gachagua calls the shots. This post arrives amid intensifying opposition maneuvering.

Gachagua has courted these leaders to broaden his base beyond Central Kenya, aiming to challenge President William Ruto in 2027.

Yet Kuria's caution delivered in the dead of night hints at fractures: inflated vote promises, unequal power dynamics, and the danger of overpromising leading to electoral disappointment.

If heeded, Kuria's words could prompt the addressed leaders to reconsider their alignments, potentially fragmenting the opposition further or forcing renegotiations.

In Kenya's winner-takes-all politics, such public warnings often reshape coalitions and voter perceptions long before ballots are cast.

As 2027 draws closer, this late-night tweet serves as a stark reminder: in the game of alliances, trust is scarce, and missteps can indeed lead to "premium tears."
