"Wanawake Ndio Dawa Yako" Dramà As Rally comes to standstill As Wamuchomba Goes after Gachagua

Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba has stirred political debate after remarking that only women have the capacity to make former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua keep quiet, a statement that has quickly gained traction across political circles and social media platforms.

Speaking during a public engagement, Wamuchomba made the comment while weighing in on Gachagua’s frequent and often controversial public utterances since his exit from government.

The outspoken MP suggested that male political rivals have struggled to rein in Gachagua’s rhetoric, arguing that women possess a unique moral authority and persuasive power capable of tempering his political bravado.

Her remarks were widely interpreted as both a critique of Gachagua’s combative communication style and a broader commentary on gender dynamics in Kenyan politics.

Wamuchomba, known for her blunt and unapologetic approach, appeared to frame women leaders as voices of reason in an otherwise heated political environment.

The statement comes amid growing political tension in the Mt Kenya region, where Gachagua remains an influential but polarising figure.

His frequent attacks on political opponents and former allies have kept him at the centre of national discourse, even as critics accuse him of fuelling divisions within the region.

Reactions to Wamuchomba’s remarks have been mixed. Supporters praised her for boldly asserting the relevance of women in leadership and conflict resolution, saying her words highlighted the often-underrated role women play in stabilising political discourse.

Others, however, accused her of reducing complex political disagreements to gender stereotypes, arguing that leadership and restraint are not determined by gender.

Political analysts note that the comments may also reflect deeper power struggles within the Mt Kenya political bloc, as leaders jostle for influence ahead of future political realignments.

By invoking gender, Wamuchomba’s statement has added a new dimension to debates around authority, communication, and leadership style.

Neither Gachagua nor his close allies had immediately responded to the remarks, but observers expect a reaction given his history of addressing critics head-on.

As the political temperature continues to rise, Wamuchomba’s comments have reignited discussion on whether women leaders could play a greater role in calming Kenya’s often confrontational political arena or whether the remark was simply another spark in an already volatile debate.
