People’s Liberation Party (PLP) leader Martha Karua, has alleged that President William Ruto doesn't plan on leaving power even if he secures his second and final term in 2027.
According to Karua, while this would mean Ruto would lead up to 2032 and then be forced by the constitution to handover to someone new, the Head of State is plotting to still remain in office.
The former Gichugu MP claims that Ruto is actually laying the foundation for a 15-year rule, going by the remarks he has been making in public events in recent days.
Karua has stated that this leaves them with no other option but forcefully removing Ruto from office, calling on the public to be united and register as voters to force him out of State House in the forthcoming polls.
"He said he has a plan for Kenya to be like Singapore, meaning he has no plans to exit government.
Our unity will make us remove Ruto from power, and we shall remove him forcefully,” she said on Monday.
She also warned than in the event Ruto manages to achieve his alleged plan, he will subject Kenyans to dictatorial rule, having termed this the only way for the country to develop at a quicker pace.
"The other day, while speaking, Ruto said that the most developed countries in Africa are ruled by a dictator.
So, he wants to insinuate that if he does not become a dictator, the country will not develop."
Karua, who once served as Minister of Justice, is among politicians who have been campaigning against Ruto and his leadership, under the United Opposition banner.
