NAKURU – The United Opposition is maintaining a relentless campaign schedule, moving from a three-day tour of Gusii land to a planned two-day tour of Nakuru County starting February 27.
The opposition delegation is led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and includes former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka, Jubilee presidential candidate Dr. Fred Matiangi, Deputy Party leader Justine Muturi, former Defence Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa, Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya, and prominent Kenyan lawyer and politician Martha Karua. The team aims to popularize the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The planned tour comes on the heels of recent by-election losses where the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) won all contested seats, including parliamentary and ward-level positions.

Analysts note that while the opposition has faced setbacks, the tours are intended to consolidate support, strengthen coalitions, and energize grassroots supporters across key counties.
During the Gusii land tour, the United Opposition engaged with local leaders and citizens to highlight their shared vision for governance reforms, economic growth, and democratic accountability.

According to organizers, the Nakuru tour will continue these discussions, targeting strategic areas where opposition voices have historically had influence but have faced challenges against UDA’s rising popularity.
The inclusion of Dr. Matiangi, who is the Jubilee Party’s presidential candidate, is seen as a strategic move to broaden the coalition’s appeal across different voter blocs.

Political observers suggest that the multi-party presence of leaders such as Gachagua, Kalonzo, Karua, and others reflects a deliberate effort to present a united front and demonstrate cohesion in the face of recent electoral defeats.
Martha Karua is expected to emphasize the importance of civic participation and voter registration, while Gachagua and Kalonzo will focus on the coalition’s policy priorities and long-term strategy to challenge the Ruto administration in 2027.
Despite the rigorous schedule, opposition leaders insist that maintaining visibility across counties is critical for rallying support, particularly after the UDA’s clean sweep in the February 26 by-elections.

The two-day Nakuru visit is seen as a continuation of the United Opposition’s commitment to building momentum and presenting a coordinated strategy to voters ahead of the general election.
The tour will conclude on February 28, after which the United Opposition is expected to evaluate progress and plan further outreach activities in other strategic regions.
