Gachagua, Edwin Sifuna Hit the Ground Running with Parallel Political Tours Across Key Counties

Kenya’s political landscape is set for a busy weekend as leaders allied to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna roll out separate mobilization drives across different parts of the country.

The activities, expected to take place in Nairobi, Mombasa, and Kirinyaga County, signal an intensifying political season as leaders seek to consolidate support and rally their bases ahead of future contests.

The Linda Mwananchi faction, associated with ODM rebels, has lined up a major rally in Mombasa County on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

The event is expected to bring together several prominent leaders, including Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, Siaya Governor James Orengo, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi, who also serves as ODM deputy party leader.

The Mombasa rally is expected to address key national issues while also strengthening the faction’s influence at the Coast, a region that has historically played a critical role in Kenya’s political direction.

Analysts believe the gathering could shape emerging alliances and redefine internal dynamics within the opposition.

At the same time, Rigathi Gachagua’s DCP party is set to embark on a two-day grassroots tour of Kirinyaga County.

The tour will kick off with stops at Kangata kwa Eliud, Karumandi Shopping Centre, Kangai Shopping Centre, and Murinduki Shopping Centre.

On the second day, the team will visit Kiburu and Kianjege shopping centres before concluding with a church service at ACK Kianjege.

The tour is seen as part of Gachagua’s broader strategy to solidify his support base in the Mt. Kenya region following his political fallout at the national level.

Political observers note that these parallel engagements highlight growing competition among leaders seeking to influence public opinion and build momentum on the ground.

With both camps mobilizing supporters simultaneously, the coming days are likely to provide clearer signals on shifting political alignments.
