"If You're Men Enough, Go To Kisumu" UDA Senator Tells Linda Mwananchi Team

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has challenged leaders of the Linda Mwananchi movement to proceed with their planned rallies in Kisumu and Vihiga County if they are “man enough.”

Speaking in the Senate on April 23, Cherargei criticized the group and accused Edwin Sifuna of focusing too much on the movement while ignoring key agreements between the United Democratic Alliance and the Orange Democratic Movement.

Sifuna responded calmly, defending the constitutional rights of Kenyans. He emphasized that freedom of expression and movement allows any leader to hold rallies anywhere in the country without intimidation.

He also rejected what he viewed as threats and asked the Senate Speaker to have Cherargei withdraw his remarks, noting that such statements were unexpected from a younger leader.

At the same time, Samuel Atandi, the Alego Usonga MP, cast doubt on the planned Kisumu rally.

He argued that local residents are not interested and predicted the event would fail, claiming organizers may rely on imported crowds from nearby universities.

Despite the criticism, the Linda Mwananchi team has insisted the rally will go on as planned.

Babu Owino, Embakasi East MP, maintained that the event must proceed regardless of opposition.

The planned rally follows an earlier incident in which Godfrey Osotsi was injured in an alleged attack and later hospitalized.

Organizers say holding the rally in Kisumu is a way to demonstrate resilience and affirm their constitutional rights.

The standoff highlights growing political tensions, with leaders divided over both the rally and broader political alliances.
