“In the Fullness of Time, Kenyans Will Know the Truth”: Tuju Warns Rogue Police

Former Cabinet Secretary Raphael Tuju has issued a stark warning to police officers acting with impunity making it clear that no one not even a former president will escape accountability when the truth finally comes out.

Speaking in a statement on Thursday, April 2, 2026 Tuju declared that Kenyans will eventually know the full story behind unresolved wrongs.

He singled out law enforcement officers who believe they can operate above the law reminding them that a reckoning applies equally to all.

In the fullness of time Kenyans will know the truth Tuju said.

Some of the police officers acting with impunity should know there is a term that applies to all of us.

Former CS, former President, former DCI directoroyou will be held to account.

The former minister did not specify which incidents or individuals he was referring to but his mention of a former Director of Criminal Investigations and a former President suggests he is alluding to high level cover ups or abuses that have long gone unpunished.

His words carry weight given his own tenure in government and access to sensitive state matters.

Tuju’s warning comes at a time when public trust in security agencies remains fragile with accusations of extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances and obstruction of justice repeatedly levelled against police units.

By invoking the names of past holders of powerful offices he signalled that even those who once sat in State House or ran the country’s detective bureau cannot consider themselves immune.

The statement has already sparked debate across Kenya with many reading it as a promise that historical crimes will eventually be unearthed and that those responsible no matter how well connected will face judgment.

Whether that judgment comes through the courts, a truth commission or public opinion remains unclear.

For now Tuju has planted a marker.
