Revealed: WhatsApp Messages That Made Kisumu Man to Kill Ex-girlfriend Months After Threatening Her

Detectives in Kisumu have recovered the body of a 21‑year‑old student from Ramogi Institute of Advanced Technology (RIAT) who went missing earlier this month.

The body of Rose Benta Apondi was found in Riat Forest by a joint police team.

Police said the body was decomposed and had multiple stab wounds.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the case began when the young woman sent a distress message to her sister.

Earlier phone calls had failed due to poor network, forcing her to send a text instead. In the message, she said she had been lured into a drinking session with two men she knew from school before things turned violent.

Moments later, her phone went off, raising alarm among family members who quickly reported the matter to police.

A search was launched, leading to crucial leads that helped detectives trace a prime suspect.

Police arrested Colman Okoth, described as the victim’s former boyfriend. During interrogation, he reportedly admitted visiting her house on April 5, 2026.

While there, he claimed he accessed her phone and found WhatsApp messages suggesting she was planning a wedding with another man. Enraged, he allegedly plotted to punish her.

Investigations show that Okoth had issued threats to Benta over the past two months and frequently visited her residence.

Witnesses said he was seen with a heavily intoxicated woman on the night she disappeared, believed to be the victim.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue, with police working to uncover the full details behind the killing.
