Sen. Methu Reacts After a Road He Mentioned in the Presence of President Ruto Being Advertised

Nyandarua Senator John Methu has finally broken his silence after the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) quickly advertised a major road project that he had publicly highlighted in the presence of President William Ruto just days earlier.

On Friday, KeRRA released tender notices for the upgrading of the Murungaru–Tulasha–Gilgil Road, along with several other projects in the county. The move has sparked fresh political debate in the region.

The development comes only five days after Senator Methu’s dramatic confrontation with the President during the requiem service for the late Ol Kalou MP David Kiaraho on April 8 in Nyandarua County.

In a fearless speech that was momentarily interrupted when his microphone was switched off, Methu pointed out several stalled road projects.

He directly challenged President Ruto over promises made during the 2022 election campaigns that are yet to be fulfilled.

One of the roads he specifically mentioned was the Murungaru–Tulasha–Gilgil route.

“Mr President, we were together with you in 2022 when you promised to tarmac the Murungaru–Tulasha–Gilgil Road. How is that playing politics?” Methu had asked pointedly as the President listened.

Following the tender advertisement, Senator Methu linked the swift development to his bold intervention.

“You must overcome fear if you want to be a good leader,” he stated.

“I raised the issue of the Murungaru-Gilgil road with the President on Wednesday, and it was advertised on Friday.”
