MP Daniel Manduku has praised former President Uhuru Kenyatta for his remarks during a funeral service in Kirinyaga yesterday, where Uhuru called for unity among leaders, a united nation, and development that benefits all Kenyans.
Speaking on Citizen Day Break, Manduku noted that the messages Uhuru delivered echo those of his father, Jomo Kenyatta, who emphasized similar ideals in his independence speech of 1963.
“I like what the former president said yesterday. However, the same things he said are what his father said in 1963. If you listen to Kenyatta’s independence speech, it is the same message he spoke about. I asked myself, what level of those things did he achieve in his 10-year presidency tenure?” Manduku remarked.
Manduku’s reflections highlight the enduring nature of unity and development as core national values.
Analysts say his comments also raise questions about the tangible progress achieved during Uhuru’s tenure, with citizens still evaluating the impact of policies on employment, infrastructure, and governance.
The MP’s remarks come amid growing calls for leaders to work collaboratively across party lines, especially as the country faces economic and social challenges.
Kenyans are being reminded that national development depends not only on rhetoric but also on measurable actions that uplift communities.
