William Ruto Over the Moon as a Prominent Leader Backs His Gikomba Plan

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has voiced her support for traders affected by recent disruptions at Gikomba Market, assuring them that the government is taking steps to help them rebuild their businesses.

Speaking after visiting sections of the market, Passaris acknowledged the heavy losses suffered by traders, many of whom rely on daily sales to support their families.

She noted that Gikomba is not just a marketplace but a lifeline for thousands of small-scale entrepreneurs, and any disruption has far-reaching effects on livelihoods.

Passaris said the government, in collaboration with county authorities and other stakeholders, is working on practical measures to restore normal operations.

These include plans to improve infrastructure, enhance security, and ensure that traders can resume their activities without fear of further losses.

She emphasized that the focus is not only on recovery but also on creating a safer and more organized trading environment.

She urged traders to remain patient as interventions are rolled out, adding that their concerns have been heard at the highest levels.

According to Passaris, efforts are underway to provide support that will ease the burden on those hardest hit, including considering ways to cushion them financially.

At the same time, she called on traders to cooperate with authorities during the recovery process, saying unity will be key in rebuilding the market.

She also appealed to leaders to put politics aside and prioritize the welfare of ordinary citizens who depend on Gikomba for survival.

Passaris maintained that with coordinated action and goodwill, the market will recover, allowing traders to get back on their feet and continue contributing to Nairobi’s economy.
