Ndiritu Muriithi Rejects DCP, Joins Laikipia Race Under Reform Party of Kenya

After months of political speculation, Ndiritu Muriithi has confirmed his next political direction. The former Laikipia governor and current Kenya Revenue Authority Chairman has ruled out joining the Democratic Citizens Party (DCP).

The DCP is linked to former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. His announcement ends weeks of anticipation over his possible alignment with the new Mt Kenya political formations.

Instead, Muriithi has declared interest in reclaiming the Laikipia gubernatorial seat. He will run under the Reform Party of Kenya (RPK).

He described the Reform Party of Kenya as a platform built on political and governance reforms. He said it is aimed at shifting focus away from identity politics.

Muriithi stated that the party seeks to promote unity across the Mt Kenya region. He warned against what he termed increasing political fragmentation.

He argued that divisions within the region could weaken its influence nationally. He insisted that cooperation and shared development goals should guide leadership choices.

The former governor dismissed claims that his decision was influenced by political pressure. He said his choice was guided by principles and long-term vision.

He emphasized that leadership should prioritize service delivery over political loyalty. He added that citizens are more concerned with development than political realignments.

Muriithi also signaled plans to rebuild his political support base in Laikipia. He said he intends to focus on grassroots engagement and voter trust.

He expressed confidence in his record, especially in public finance management and county leadership. He said these experiences will shape his campaign agenda.

He further noted that Laikipia requires steady leadership focused on economic recovery. He pledged to center his campaign on practical solutions.

The move introduces a new dynamic in Laikipia politics. It also adds a fresh layer to the evolving political landscape in Mt Kenya ahead of future elections.
