Havi Stirs ODM Storm, Says Sifuna Could Be The New Wamalwa Or The Man Who Buries The Party

Lawyer Nelson Havi has said that Edwin Sifuna, the ODM Secretary-General, is now in the same place where the late Michael Kijana Wamalwa was in the year 1994.

Havi said the only big difference between the two is that Sifuna is not fighting Raila Odinga.

Who was Wamalwa’s age mate back then, but instead dealing with Raila’s elder brother, Oburu Odinga.

He said that makes Sifuna’s situation a little better because he is not going against Raila, the man who built ODM from the ground.

Havi explained that during the time of Wamalwa, politics was very tough. Anyone who wanted to rise had to face very strong people who controlled everything in the opposition. Wamalwa had to face Raila, who was already a big name, very smart, and loved by many people.

That fight between them made Wamalwa famous, but it also broke the unity of the opposition at that time.

Now, according to Havi, Sifuna’s journey looks almost the same, but he has a small advantage because Raila has already done the hard work and created a name and a party that Sifuna can now build on instead of fighting against.

Havi said that the life and death of ODM now depend on Sifuna. He said if Sifuna plays his cards well, ODM can grow and remain strong, but if he messes up, the party can die slowly.

Havi said Sifuna has everything needed to make ODM shine again — he is young, educated, full of energy, and understands the new generation.

But he warned that if Sifuna allows himself to be used by old politicians or follows the old tricks that have destroyed many parties, he will lose his chance to make ODM better.

Havi said politics in Kenya rewards brave people who know what they want. He said Sifuna must now choose his path carefully.

He can become a new Wamalwa who changes things and makes history, or he can become a leader who watched ODM fall apart while in his hands. The decision, Havi said, is fully in Sifuna’s hands.
