7 Ruto's Men Caught Up In a Ksh 1Billion Mega Scandal, Landing Him In Deep Trouble

A KSh1 billion political scandal has rocked President William Ruto’s inner circle, with seven of his close allies accused of dishing out unbudgeted millions in what is now being described as a shadowy “empowerment” programme.

In explosive court filings, lawyer Kelvin Kipchirchir claims that Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, and other senior Kenya Kwanza figures handed out vast sums of cash without traceable sources allegedly to buy political loyalty.

The court documents reveal that Deputy President Gachagua alone reportedly gave out KSh202 million in just two months, despite his official salary being KSh1.22 million.

Musalia Mudavadi is said to have donated KSh1 million in each of four political rallies, totaling KSh4 million almost four times his monthly salary of KSh990,000.

Farouk Kibet, Ruto’s powerful aide, allegedly contributed KSh3.6 million across five events, while Speaker Wetang’ula dished out KSh3.9 million in seven stops.

Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah reportedly gave out KSh4.4 million, and Hassan Joho KSh2 million in one day at rallies in Likoni and Taita Taveta.

Kapsaret MP Oscar Sudi, whose salary is KSh739,600, allegedly handed out KSh100 million in cash and goods worth KSh45 million on June 6.

The court filing calls for investigations into the source of the funds, raising concerns of bribery, abuse of office, and unaccounted government spending, potentially placing President Ruto’s administration under intense scrutiny.
