NEWS JUST IN: ODM MP Declares 2027 Presidential Bid to Challenge Ruto

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has officially announced his intention to run for the presidency in the August 2027 elections, setting the stage for what promises to be a competitive political landscape as alliances continue to take shape across the country.

Speaking on Sunday during engagements with residents in Luanda town and Mudete in Vihiga County, Amisi framed his presidential bid as an effort to restore Kenya’s standing, which he claims has been eroded by mismanagement under the current administration.

Amisi took aim at President William Ruto, accusing him of prioritizing personal political agendas over national development.

He further criticized the use of other leaders, including Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, to advance individual interests at the expense of Kenyan citizens.

“I will come back here on the 9th not to seek votes as an MCA, Women Representative, or Senator, but for the President of the Republic of Kenya. I will be seeking votes to lead this country,” Amisi said during his address.

The MP’s announcement signals the growing momentum of political maneuvering ahead of the 2027 elections, with various candidates positioning themselves to challenge the incumbent president.

Analysts suggest that Amisi’s entry could reshape alliances and voter dynamics, particularly in key counties in Western Kenya where he enjoys strong support.

As political actors begin solidifying their campaigns, voters can expect an increasingly competitive race leading up to the August polls, with issues such as governance, development, and national priorities likely to dominate debates.
