Ruto Suffers Another Huge Blow As His Once Trusted Key Allies Makes Bold Announcement Of Dumping UDA

President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is reeling from another significant blow as Senate Majority Whip Boni Khalwale, a once-staunch allies, publicly declared departure from the party, branding it “dead.”

The announcement signals deepening cracks within the ruling coalition, already grappling with a rebellion led by supporters of ousted Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Khalwale, a prominent figure tasked with ensuring party discipline in the Senate, cited unfulfilled promises and neglect of the Western Kenya region as reasons for his exit.

Speaking at a public gathering in Malinya, Kakamega County, he accused Ruto of sidelining the Luhya community, diverting development projects to Nyanza, and betraying a 2022 promise to appoint him Health Cabinet Secretary.

“Our 30% share has gone to Raila’s backyard,” Khalwale stated, warning that Ruto risks losing Western votes in 2027.

The senator’s defection is part of a broader exodus, with UDA bigwigs like Nyali MP Mohamed Ali, North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, Naivasha MP Jayne Kihara, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, and dusted Senator Gloria Orwoba reportedly plotting to leave.

This follows tensions over the UDA-Amani National Congress merger and perceived favoritism toward other regions.

Khalwale’s bold move to contest the 2027 Kakamega gubernatorial race under the United Progressive Movement (UPM) further weakens UDA’s grip on Western Kenya, posing a significant challenge to Ruto’s re-election bid.
