According to available reports, iseems President William Ruto is fully aware that some of his Members of Parliament (MPs) have been showing disrespect to Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
This alleged disregard for the DP's officehas been brought into sharp focus during the President's tour of the Ukambani region.
A video, posted by a local media outlet and highlighted by "Kamba Insights," has circulated widely, showing a moment where President Ruto himself has to intervene to maintain the established presidential protocol.
In the clip, the President is seen physically pushing aside Machakos Town MP Caleb Mule who seemingly tried to stand between him and his deputy.
According to established protocol at any official event, the Deputy President must stand close to the President, visually representing the hierarchy of the presidency.
However, MP Caleb Mule stood in the spot reserved for DP Kindiki.
The video clearly shows President Ruto pulling the MP to stand on the other side, ensuring that DP Kindiki has his rightful place next to the Commander-in-Chief.
The intervention by President Ruto himself to clear the way so that his Deputy can get basic respect has led many to believe that the problem of protocol disrespect is bigger than what meets the eye.
The incident occurred as President Ruto winded up his four-day tour of the Ukambani region yesterday evening.
The move by President Ruto has been viewed by some as a public way of sending a strong message to all Kenya Kwanza leaders.
The message is clear that the protocol and respect for the office of the Deputy President must be maintained at all times.
The question now remains whether this public show of support will curb the reported trend of disrespect among some MPs towards the Deputy President.
