Gachagua's Man Officially Declares His Nairobi County Gubernatorial Bid

James Gakuya, a close ally of the former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has officially announced his intention to contest for the Nairobi County gubernatorial seat in the 2027 elections.

Speaking on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, Gakuya said he has deep roots in Nairobi and believes it is where he truly belongs.

“We are one and a half years away from elections, and I have declared my interest in the gubernatorial seat of Nairobi because this is where I belong. Therefore, I am a contender in this race,” he stated.

Gakuya’s entry into the race marks the beginning of what is expected to be a highly competitive contest in Nairobi, a county known for its dynamic and diverse political landscape.

Gakuya has also promised to focus on key issues affecting Nairobi residents, including urban planning, employment, and public service delivery. His campaign is expected to gain momentum as the 2027 election approaches.
