Rare Photo Of The Late Raila Odinga’s Iconic Hummer Emerges After Years

A rare photo of the late Raila Odinga’s iconic Hummer H3 has resurfaced online, reigniting memories of one of the most memorable political campaign vehicles in Kenya’s modern history.

The image, taken at his Opoda home in Bondo, shows the black Hummer parked and partially covered, marking its first public sighting in many years.

The reappearance of the vehicle comes weeks after the former Prime Minister was laid to rest, sparking renewed public interest in story behind the legendary machine that once energized his political rallies.

Raila Odinga’s Hummer gained nationwide fame during the 2007 General Election campaign.

At a time when most politicians were traversing the country in standard SUVs, Odinga stood out with the flashy, high-powered Hummer H3, which instantly became a symbol of resilience, ambition, and political strength.

At rallies, crowds would chant “Hummer! Hummer! Hummer!” as Odinga waved from the imposing vehicle, creating unforgettable scenes across the country.

The Hummer not only captured public imagination but also inspired numerous Luo musicians, including Onyi Papa and Small, who praised it in their songs.

Any artist producing music in support of Odinga or his party during that period rarely missed mentioning the vehicle, guaranteeing instant popularity for the track.

However, after the disputed 2007 election, the Hummer gradually disappeared from public view. It only made a brief appearance in 2008 during ODM’s National Delegates Meeting at the Bomas of Kenya.

After that, sightings became nonexistent, leaving many Kenyans wondering what became of the famous machine.

Its unexpected resurfacing in December 2025 has reignited nostalgia and curiosity among Kenyans, reminding many of a defining chapter in Raila Odinga’s political journey and the electrifying campaign moments the Hummer once commanded.
