Things Turn Ugly for Wetangula as His Brother, Tim Wanyonyi, Opposes Him in Bungoma Politics

Pressure is piling on National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula after his younger brother, Westlands MP Tim Wanyonyi, openly challenged his political dominance in Bungoma.

The rare family split has triggered fresh tension in the region, exposing cracks within the Ford Kenya leader’s influence.

Wanyonyi dismissed Wetangula’s grip on Bungoma as “overrated” and insisted that the people are exhausted by what he described as recycled leadership.

He argued that Bungoma deserves new voices and fresh leadership that puts citizens first, not political families.

The Westlands MP accused his brother of using his office to dictate politics in the county.

He said Bungoma’s voters should not be treated as “personal property” and vowed to dismantle what he termed as an old political order that has kept the region behind.

His comments have rattled Ford Kenya loyalists, who are now struggling to defend Wetangula’s control amid rising discontent on the ground.

The Speaker has long been considered the most influential political figure in Bungoma, but growing criticism from within his own family has amplified doubts about his hold on the region.

The confrontation also puts pressure on the Kenya Kwanza coalition, which relies heavily on Wetangula’s support to maintain stability in Western Kenya.
