The comments made by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, who urged ODM Party leader Dr. Oburu Odinga to appoint his own Secretary General, have been addressed by Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma.
Speaking on March 27, 2026, Sifuna reportedly accused the Orange Democratic Movement party of betraying the late former prime minister Raila Odinga.
He said that Raila will never forgive President Ruto and that the party had violated the late former prime minister's values.
"President William Ruto's actions against the party will never be forgiven by the late former prime minister Raila Odinga. They have violated the party's tenets.
Senator Edwin Sifuna of Nairobi stated, "After Raila, I can't serve as the Secretary General of a mediocre party. Dr. Oburu Odinga should get his own Secretary General."
Speaking on X (previously Twitter), MP Peter Kaluma urged the senator to resign from his leadership role in the Senate, calling his actions self-destructive.
Dr. Oburu Odinga, meantime, has insisted that ODM will stay in the broad-based administration that Raila departed. He reaffirmed that everyone must be disciplined, but the party will not pursue anyone.
