Two ladies brought Mombasa to a standstill as they showcased unique dance moves in the middle of thousands of residents while Edwin Sifuna’s motorcade was heading to Tononoka Grounds, with all cameras turning to capture the moment.
The spontaneous performance briefly shifted attention from the political procession, as the two women danced energetically at the centre of the road, surrounded by cheering crowds.
Supporters paused, ululated and recorded videos, creating a lively scene that quickly spread across social media.
The moment unfolded as Sifuna, alongside Babu Owino and James Orengo, made their way through the city amid overwhelming support from residents aligned with the Linda Mwananchi movement.
Thousands had flooded the streets, singing and chanting, forcing the convoy to move at a slow pace.
However, it was the two dancers who momentarily became the centre of attention, drawing admiration for their creativity and confidence in the middle of the charged political atmosphere.
Witnesses described the scene as both entertaining and symbolic of the celebratory mood that had engulfed the coastal city. “It felt like a festival,” said one resident, noting how the crowd embraced the moment.
Despite the brief interruption, the convoy proceeded towards Tononoka Grounds, where the leaders later arrived to a fully packed venue ahead of the much-anticipated rally.
The incident highlighted the vibrant street culture of Mombasa and underscored the electrifying public reception that greeted the ODM faction, as internal party divisions continue to play out ahead of the 2027 General Election.
