“Riggy G Is a Political Genius” — Wamuchomba Sparks Debate With Bold Claims on Gachagua-Ruto Political Strategy

Githunguri MP Gathoni Wamuchomba has stirred national debate after describing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as a “political genius” allegedly positioning himself for a possible reconciliation with President William Ruto.

Speaking after a public event in Nyandarua County, Wamuchomba suggested that Gachagua’s recent political messaging and increased activity in the Mt Kenya region may not be purely confrontational, but part of a broader long-term strategy aimed at future political negotiation.

According to her remarks, the former Deputy President could be using public political tension as leverage, with the ultimate goal of securing a favourable political arrangement. She further claimed that such a settlement could be tied to protecting personal interests and ensuring a smooth transition into life after active politics, though these assertions remain speculative and have not been independently verified.

Her comments have triggered strong reactions across the political spectrum, with supporters and critics offering sharply divided interpretations of Gachagua’s current political direction. Some analysts argue that Kenyan politics is often fluid, with rival leaders frequently shifting alliances when strategic interests align.

Others, however, have dismissed Wamuchomba’s claims as political speculation, insisting that the rift between Gachagua and President Ruto remains deep and complicated, especially following the dramatic fallout that emerged after the 2024 impeachment proceedings and subsequent public exchanges between the two camps.

Gachagua has in recent months intensified his political engagements in the Mt Kenya region, positioning himself as a vocal advocate for regional interests and critic of certain government policies. His messaging has resonated with sections of supporters who feel marginalized within the current political arrangement.

On the other hand, President Ruto has consistently emphasized national unity and development delivery, while dismissing narratives that suggest regional exclusion or political division within his administration.

As Kenya moves closer to the 2027 general election cycle, political analysts say such statements reflect the evolving and unpredictable nature of alliances, where today’s rivals can potentially become tomorrow’s partners depending on shifting interests.

Wamuchomba’s remarks have now added fresh momentum to ongoing speculation about the future of the Ruto-Gachagua relationship, further fueling debate on whether current political tensions may eventually lead to reconciliation or deeper divisions.
