Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya has firmly dismissed the possibility of a third political formation emerging ahead of the 2027 General Election, declaring that the contest will be a direct showdown between the united opposition and President William Ruto.
Speaking on Saturday, February 28, 2026, during a United Alternative Government rally in Nakuru, Natembeya told supporters that the political landscape is already taking shape and there will be no space for splinter movements or independent camps.
“2027 hakuna mambo ya third force. It’s either you’re in the joined opposition team or President William Ruto’s team,” Natembeya said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
He went further to chant, “Na Kasongo ni WANTAM!” — a slogan used by sections of the opposition to suggest that the Head of State will serve only one term.
Natembeya urged opposition leaders to close ranks and avoid divisions that could hand an advantage to the ruling Kenya Kwanza administration.

According to him, any attempt to create parallel formations outside the main opposition coalition would only split votes and weaken the overall challenge against the incumbent.
The governor argued that Kenyans are grappling with serious economic pressures, including the high cost of living and unemployment, and are looking to the opposition for a credible and united alternative.

He maintained that fragmented politics would undermine the urgency of addressing these national concerns.
“The stakes are too high for us to play small politics. This is the time for unity of purpose,” he told attendees.
The Nakuru rally brought together several leaders allied to the opposition, signaling ongoing negotiations aimed at consolidating support across different regions.

While discussions around presidential flagbearers and coalition structures are still ongoing, Natembeya’s remarks suggest that the opposition is keen to frame 2027 as a two-horse race.
