President William Ruto on Monday evening hosted a high-level meeting with grassroots leaders at the Kisii State Lodge shortly after concluding a series of development rallies across Kisii and Nyamira counties.
The Head of State, who had earlier traversed the region making several stopovers, used the engagements to popularize his development agenda and rally support ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to Ruto, more than 2,000 grassroots leaders attended the Kisii State Lodge meeting, a turnout he described as a strong signal of growing support in the Gusii region.
“We are strengthening the Broad-Based Government through continuous consultation with grassroots and elected leaders,” Ruto said.
He added that such engagements help the government stay in touch with the realities facing ordinary citizens, ensuring policies and decisions reflect the needs of the people.
Ruto emphasized that his administration remains focused on uniting the country under a shared vision driven by the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), which aims to achieve inclusive growth.
“At Kisii State Lodge, we met over 2,000 grassroots leaders from Kisii and Nyamira counties. We agreed to fast-track key development projects that will prepare the region and the country as we push towards transforming Kenya into a first-world economy,” he stated.
The meeting comes amid increased political activity in the region, as leaders position themselves and build alliances ahead of the next general election.
